Product Details
+Bovine Superoxide Dismutase from Innovative Research has been prepared from bovine red blood cells and chromatographically purified. This is a dialyzed, lyophilized powder.
Superoxide Dismutase is an enzyme that helps to partition the superoxide radical (which is produced as a by-product of oxygen metabolism) into ordinary oxygen or into hydrogen peroxide. Superoxide Dismutase works by out-competing the damaging reactions of superoxide, which protects cells from toxicity. Superoxide Dismutase has three major families that are classified according to the metal cofactor, which can be Cu/Zn (binding copper and zinc), Fe/Mn (binding iron or manganese), and Ni (binding nickel).
